SPANISH I
Course Prerequisites: None
8th grade and up.

Spanish Year 1 excellently presents acquisition, grammar and conversation skills. Stories, easy-to-learn strategies, detailed examples, and abundant application exercises promote meaningful use of the language. This Spanish course is a Comprehensible Input Spanish course, and we will use much TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling), interactive games and class activities to reinforce the lessons.

In this course, our goal is to instruct the student in a way as to “acquire” the Spanish language. In our approach, the “acquiring” a language is very different from merely learning the rules of a language. Therefore, almost all of our class time will be spent using Spanish--not using English to talk about Spanish--and the focus will be on listening and reading with some speaking and writing instead of writing rules and copying words. Grammar and writing skills will come more naturally as the student takes in more and more Spanish by listening and reading.

Required Materials and Text:

Tutor will provide curriculum.

Additional low cost materials will be required for student to purchase. A full list will be provided to registered students.

Tuition*:
$350 per year. May be paid in full or as 2 payments to Josh Abbott, postdated July 1 and October 1.

SPANISH II
Course Prerequisites: Spanish I

In Spanish Year 2, students will continue to build upon the foundations established in Spanish I with acquisition, grammar and conversation skills. Stories, easy-to-learn strategies, detailed examples, and abundant application exercises promote meaningful use of the language. This Spanish course is a Comprehensible Input Spanish course, and we will use much TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling), interactive games and class activities reinforce the lessons.
